In Tamil the last vowel(Oyir Ezhuthu) is represented by three dots (pronounced 'Aqh'). Since three dots look similar to three weld marks in ancient battlefield 'shields', this letter was also called Aythua Ezhuthu from around late Sangam period (1 CE +), which means 'weapon letter'. In the movie Ayutha Ezhuthu, there are three characters involved in a wierd twist of fate. Hence the name 'Aythua Ezhuthu'. Translating it as 'Writings of Weapon' is innovative, but funny.
