Ajay, not at all. Thanks for pointing out (another friend pointed out: it's "Rama Katha"). Will make sure it's fixed. This in spite of having a projection TV to provide info! :)

PS: forgot to blog the rendering of "Chandralekha" from Thiruda Thiruda. It deserved special mention.

Anti - your link was insightful. Left a bad taste with me too, though I will give the benefit of doubt until I hear the originals. Have you heard any of them?

Yup, His Highness Abdullah and Bharatam rock. I think its the underlying classical music influences in these soundtracks that contribute towards their pleasurable listening. Actually Vidyasagar seems to be doing good work in Malalayam movies. And IR did a stupendous job in "Guru". Dunno why it did not get the recognition it deserved.

Anand, as for Kadhal Konden and YSR, lesser said the better. The tracks impressed me so much in the beginning that the news that they were lifts (I did listen to the originals) left me with a bad taste in the mouth, cos I had recommended Kadhal Konden whole heartedly on my blog. This link (the site's called called Inspired Indian Film Songs) has the relevant comparisons.

Something deviant to this blog, for who appreciate music beyond linguistic barrier: check out this Malayalam movies songs of "Runway".

Its sleek'n'smooth tunes scored by Suresh Peters are great to the ears. Lots of Tamizh words mixed in the lyrics, so even cooler! :)

"Bharatam" & "His Highness Abduallah" are some of Mallu golden hits.

Hey Anand,

Nice article. Just wanted to point out a clarification: The play was not a spoof of virumandi - far from it. There was the mention of virumandi only in one dialogue. The only distinctly spoof element was the touch of 'poongatru thirumbuma' if u remember. Of course, I am a part of thillana and I have seen and heard the dialogues from closer quarters.
